Erato Alakiozidou belongs to a group of fine and select musicians of Thessaloniki, actively involved in contemporary music. The last few years she has taken a special interest in the study and promote of works by 20th & 21st century Greek composers. Distinguished contemporary composers have dedicated some of their works to her and she performed their world premieres. She was born in Thessaloniki, and studied piano at the State Conservatory of Greece, furthered her postgraduate studies with Julia and Constantine Ganevi (Greece, Belgium), Roberto Szidon (Germany, Switzerland) and Lilly Boyadjieva in Paris (Conservatoire de Villepinte) from where she received her «Diplome Superiere du piano» with the highest distinction and the first prize.
She regularly gives recitals or participates in chamber music concerts and summer festivals of contemporary music e.g. those of Athens , Thessaloniki and other cities of Greece as well as in many European countries (Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Serbia, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria) wresting always very good reviews. She recorded for the Greek and Bulgarian state television and for the German southwest broadcasting corporation.
Her repertoire includes a wide range of important classical and contemporary works. She has appeared as a soloist with the symphonic orchestra “Nae Leonard” Galati of Romania, with the Orchestra of Colors (Gr) and with Lutoslawski quartet (Pol). She is a founder member of the ensembles “Tangos a Cuatro,” of the contemporary music ensemble “Idee Fixe” and of the non-profit organization “beArtive”.
Among others she is working in other fields of artistic organizations and productions.
She has organized international seminars and concerts in collaboration with big conservatories and institutions.
Founder and creator of the beartive non-profit organization, the Municipal Conservatoires Network, the International Summer Music Academy, the Synthermia International Music Festival, the “Con Fuoco” web magazine e.g.
In collaboration with the German pianist Thomas Wellen, she has redacted the piano sonatas of J. Haydn, which are published by the Music Melody Maker editions. She has been writing for the art magazine “Avlea”, creating the column “Music and Musicians”.
She lives and works in Greece. (State Conservatory of Thessaloniki- International Coordinator-Head of Department accompaniment/ Artistic Director of Municipal Conservatory of Thermi/Contemporary Music Festival Synthermia/ Idee Fixe ensemble).
She is regularly invited by many musical associations as a jury to competitions or to give master classes in Europe.
